Abstract: By combusting hydrogen with oxygen, in Spark Ignition Engine Fuelled by hydrogen, the comparative analysis shows that some amount of water is produced along with fewer amounts of harmful gases, making hydrogen the ultimate in “green” fuels. However, in air and at high burning temperatures, it also produces some oxides of nitrogen. These features make hydrogen an excellent fuel, potentially, meeting the ever increasingly stringent environmental controls of exhaust emissions from combustion devices. This also includes the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In a 4 stroke SI Engine hydrogen (which is produced by electrolysis) is injected to the engine cylinder with gasoline. emissions are observed by reducing the gasoline supply with the help of exhaust gas analyser. Different emission readings of CO, CO2, HC, NOX are taken by reducing the gasoline supply. Considerable reductions in emissions like CO, CO2 are observed. So with hydrogen as an alternative fuel can be a solution to global warming to certain extent.
