Title: THE EFFECT OF USING COMPUTER-BASED GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS ON WRITING: A CASE STUDY
Authors: Ajaka, Laurence; Hiba Kamal Al Chami
Abstract: Using graphic organizers as a technique is considered one of the techniques that is considered effective in helping students organize their writing and motivate them to learn. The study investigated the effectiveness of graphic organizers as an intervention to improve discourse structures in sentence and syntax formation. The effect of graphic organizers was assessed by comparing spontaneously argumentative essays and sentence-combining skills from pre- to post-test in four weeks. The participants included students and teachers from a rural school in Lebanon. Each week the students were given a topic, and after being discussed, they took a pre-test, explaining the graphic organizer and filling it and then took a post-test. The pre and post-test scores were analyzed numerically and statistically to determine the effectiveness of such intervention in producing higher test results and improvements. The study found that graphic organizers had significantly enhanced students’ writing abilities including CLDs and SLDs students and produced higher test results. These results suggest that a graphic organizer can be an effective tool to use in the writing process to produce sentences in an argumentative essay encompassing a more complex structure of syntax and discourse.

SCIENCE IN THE WHIRLWIND OF RELIGION AND POWER

Title: SCIENCE IN THE WHIRLWIND OF RELIGION AND POWER
Authors: Fahmi Amhar; Anas Puri
Abstract: This paper examines the interactions among science, religion, and power across historical and social contexts. Science is defined as a systematic effort to build knowledge through testable explanations and predictions, while religion is a system that connects humans with supernatural and transcendental elements. Power, in this context, is understood as a social production that shapes actors' capacities, actions, and beliefs. The paper outlines a crisis of thinking and literacy among scientists, religious scholars, and politicians, who often fail to understand or disregard the relevance of other fields. Various types of relationships between power and both science and religion are described, including power that protects, suppresses, restricts, utilizes, or mediates between the two domains. Additionally, the paper discusses how religion and science can influence or even conflict with each other. Historical examples of the complex interactions between science, religion, and power are provided, showing that harmony among them can lead to progress, while imbalance can result in regression. In conclusion, Muslims need to understand and appropriately position science, religion, and power to avoid secular extremism and ensure balanced development in society.

KAJIAN AWAL PRESTASI KESEIMBANGAN DAN FUNGSI MOTOR KASAR DALAM KALANGAN KANAK-KANAK NORMAL DAN KANAK-KANAK DENGAN GANGGUAN PEMPROSESAN AUDITORI (APD)

Title: KAJIAN AWAL PRESTASI KESEIMBANGAN DAN FUNGSI MOTOR KASAR DALAM KALANGAN KANAK-KANAK NORMAL DAN KANAK-KANAK DENGAN GANGGUAN PEMPROSESAN AUDITORI (APD)
Authors: Nor Haniza Abdul Wahat; Afaf Azizan; Nashrah Maamor

Title: EXAMINING STUDIES ON IMPROVING ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILLS AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: A META-SYNTHESIS STUDY
Authors: Murat Salman; Tuğba Yanpar-Yelken
Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the dimensions of the speaking skill development process by synthesizing the qualitative findings of researches conducted in Türkiye and abroad on improving English speaking skills as a foreign language. The study was carried out with the meta-synthesis method and the process was followed as recommended by [1]. Studies published between 2016 and 2023 were selected by criterion sampling method and 12 articles conducted with qualitative or mixed methods were examined. While obtaining these studies, “Google Scholar”, “National Thesis Center”, “ERIC”, “Dergi Park” and “Ulakbim” databases were used. As a result of the research, it was concluded that it is very important to do group work, use visual and audio materials, do pronunciation studies and benefit from technological and social media tools in improving English speaking skills.
